Trauma-Informed Therapy in-person and online
You may be used to holding everything together, but inside you feel anxious, exhausted, numb, grieving or overwhelmed. You might be coping with trauma, loss, relationship difficulties, the emotional impact of neurodiversity, internalised and destructive shame or a life experience that has changed how you feel about yourself and the world.

The Place where healing meets honour
Whether you're navigating the impact of trauma, emotional neglect, burnout, or simply feeling like you’ve lost touch with yourself, our work together can help you move forward.

Using a shame-sensitive, neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed approach, you’ll gain tools to:
  • Reclaim your self-worth and identity
  • Set healthy boundaries and honour your needs
  • Heal from emotional pain and past experiences
  • Reconnect with your internal clarity and confidence
  • Create meaningful change in life, work, and relationships
  • Build a life that reflects your truth.
Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or out of alignment?
Maybe you've been signed off from work, college, or university with stress or anxiety. Perhaps low mood or burnout is making it hard to enjoy life, even when things should feel good. Life doesn’t always go the way we hoped; relationships break down, grief arrives unexpectedly, and difficult experiences from the past can quietly shape how we feel, think, and relate to others.

You might be carrying shame, self-doubt, or a sense of disconnection from yourself or those around you, perhaps rooted in trauma, emotional neglect, or complex relationships. Maybe you feel lost, unsure of your values or purpose, or stuck in patterns like silencing your needs or fearing rejection. You might not even know who you are anymore, only that you feel lost, stuck in old patterns, and unsure of what matters to you.

It’s important to know these are signs of deeper pain, not personal failure.

You are not broken - You’re becoming
This isn’t about 'fixing' yourself - you are not broken. At PLACE TO TALK THERAPIES we will work together as you rediscover your voice, reconnect with your truth, and move towards a more grounded, authentic, and fulfilling life.

Counselling & Psychotherapy

Counselling is often focused on a single issue, such as anxiety, stress, or a life event, helping you gain clarity and coping strategies. Psychotherapy explores complex or longstanding issues like PTSD/C-PTSD, self-worth struggles, or relational patterns, fostering lasting healing and transformation.

More
Couples/Relationship Counselling

Couples counselling provides a supportive space for partners to improve communication, rebuild trust, and understand each other more clearly. With a trained relationship therapist, couples can work through challenges, strengthen their relationship and move forward with greater clarity and empathy.

More
EMDR

Gently process traumatic memories by using eye movements or other bilateral stimulation to reduce the distress of painful memories. It's proven effective for PTSD, C-PTSD anxiety, and other emotional wounds. EMDR can be used on its own or alongside talking therapy to support deeper emotional healing.

Supervision

A reflective and open space to discuss your client work, your practice and professional development. 1-1 and group supervision. If you are a qualified counsellor or counselling student looking for a supervisor, contact me for more info.

Supervision

Examples of some of the issues and concerns we work with

Supervision that is personalised, present and protective. Bournemouth and Online Availability

1-1 Clinical Supervision

One-to-one supervision creates a space where your specific practice, questions, and emotional landscape are held with full attention.

This may include:

  • Case exploration through a shame-aware and somatic lens
  • Working with countertransference and parts work
  • Navigating rupture and repair in the therapeutic relationship
  • Honouring your capacity, limits, and pace as a practitioner
  • Integrating your therapeutic approach with your values

This is a space where your practitioner-self can rest, reset, and reflect.

Group Supervision (Max 1:4)

Group supervision offers a richly layered space with no more than four members, each practitioner has time to bring their whole self, not just a “case.”

In this space, you’ll find:

  • Collaborative insight grounded in multiple perspectives
  • Gentle challenge and relational accountability
  • Normalisation of practice challenges and emotional processing
  • Exposure to diverse modalities and lived experience
  • A shared commitment to ethical, present-moment, relational work

Group supervision is ideal for those who value co-regulation, shared learning, and a collective sense of honour and presence.

My Approach as a Supervisor

  • As an integrative therapist and supervisor, I draw from a breadth of well-established frameworks to ensure our supervision work is both robust and responsive to you:
  • The Seven-Eyed Model (Hawkins & Shohet): exploring client dynamics, therapeutic relationships, practitioner process, and systemic context with layered awareness
  • The Cyclical Model (Page & Wosket): a structured yet flexible container for reflection, focus, exploration, and integration
  • The Functional Model (Inskipp & Proctor): balancing the normative (ethical), formative (developmental), and restorative (supportive) functions of supervision

These models don’t just live in a textbook, they shape how we meet, explore, and evolve together. They ensure that our work remains ethical, embodied, and emotionally resonant.

The HONOUR Reflective Supervision Framework

Alongside the supervision models, I also use a reflective approach developed within Place To Talk Therapies: 'The HONOUR Reflective Supervision Framework'.

The approach aligns with the emphasis within the BACP Ethical Framework on reflective practice, professional accountability, and maintaining safe and ethical client care.

Counselling is a collaborative and empowering process, and the goal is to help you build resilience, gain self-awareness, develop coping strategies, and improve your overall mental health and well-being.

Our first session together will include an initial assessment, which may involve exploring your history, relationships (past and present), and mental wellbeing. We will also discuss your goals and expectations so that, together, we can determine the most appropriate course of action. We will agree to regularly review your goals and progress. During your sessions, we will work together to explore and address your concerns and work towards achieving your goals. We may talk about emotions, relationships and experiences, practice different coping techniques and strategies, set goals, and create action plans.

Your counselling sessions will normally be booked for the same day and time every week and last 50-60 minutes. However, we seek to offer flexibility, if possible. Counselling can be short or long term. After our initial appointment you can book a regular time slot very week.

Counselling can cover any life-area, at times it can feel a bit like untangling a giant knotted ball of string, so determination and commitment are often required. It can take a bit of time to ‘settle’ into the process and it’s important to know that as we work together through issues and emotions, it can, at times, feel as though things are getting worse. For most people this feeling is temporary and most people begin to experience progressive improvement to their well-being.
Payment can be made by BACS transfer and is required in full 48 hours before your session. International payments can be made via Wise and likewaise are required to be made 48 hours before your session.

You can block book your sessions or we can agree a rolling weekly or fortnightly schedule.

Subject to availability you can book different days/times each week to accommodate shift work or other responsibilities.

If you are unable to attend a booked session, please notify your counsellor as soon as possible and I/they will seek to find an alternative date/time.

Late notifications, within 24 hours of your appointment, will be charged the full fee.

We can occasionally offer reduced fee sessions, for students or those on low income. Please feel free to ask if there is any current reduced-fee availability when you enquire.

Once we have received your contact form, you will receive an email from Kay within 2 to 3 days, often sooner. You will be connected with the team member who has current availability and is most likely to suit your needs, to arrange a free introductory call. Matching you in this way helps ensure you can access the right support in good time. If a mutually available time cannot be found, we hope to connect you with one of the other team members.

Your introductory call will be with that team member and usually lasts 15 to 20 minutes, taking place via WhatsApp video. This allows you to meet online and discuss your needs, and gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. If you would prefer the introductory call to be by telephone, or would like to arrange a short in-person introductory session, please let them know. Together you can decide whether to work in-person or online, and whether you would prefer weekly or fortnightly sessions.

Following the call, there is no obligation to book. If you agree a suitable date and time to begin counselling, this will be held for up to 72 hours where possible.

Your contact information is treated as confidential and is not shared with third parties. Please let us know on the form if you have a preferred way for us to reply.
